Our New Adventure - The Big Move to the ATL

Well friends, of you haven't already heard, the Edmistons are moving to Atlanta. I apologize now if we weren't able to tell you in person. Jeremy had a fantastic job opportunity with his company. Although we're felling the stress now, this move is a blessing and I know the Lord has great things in store for our family.

Anyhow, I'm sitting here at DFW waiting for my flight. This will be my first official "scouting" trip. Ironically, it's my first ever visit to Atlanta. Of you know me, you know I like to be in control and that I hate surprises. This move is a very humbling experience. I'm having to learn to rely more on my friends, my family, and especially the Lord.

As I was driving home this afternoon a song touched my heart. It was most definitely a message to me from God. Matt Redman's "You Never Let Go". Boy did I need that reassurance today It reminded me that whatever I'm going through, He is there with me and He never lets go.

Three hours later, I'm sitting here at the airport getting ready to officially jump head first into this new adventure.

I'll try to chronicle this new chapter in our lives, but I make no promises. There may not be another post for 2 more years if my track record holds true. Anyhow, Jeremy and I would appreciate prayers. I'll add an official prayer request list to the blog when I get back home, but for now this list will have to do.

The Kids
We need to find the right school. We are so blessed to have them at PCA so we hope to find the best possible schools.

Friends!! The kids both have wonderful friends in Arlington. Start praying now for friendships in Atlanta. Georgia, especially. She'll be entering 5th grade next year.

The transition. We haven't had much backlash from Georgia yet, but we're expecting it. So far she seems to be taking it ok, but I know it's going to be so hard on her the closer the move gets.

Don't forget Brandon. He's got a sweet little "girlfriend" in his PreK class. He just adores her.

My job
I will try to transfer down there. I've already got some wheels in motion, but I would really like to have something lined up before the move in June/July.

The house.
Right now we don't know if we want to sell it or rent it out. If you know anyone who may be interested in leasing or buying...let us know!

Jeremy
He's traveling alot back and forth from ATL. He's also rebuilding the office down there. It is stressful for him.

Me
It's also stressful back home. Kids. Pets. Work. I don't seem to find any time for me.

My Family

Mimi and Granddad don't like the idea of the grandkids (and us) moving so far away!

Thanks is advance for your prayers! Gotta go catch this flight...at least I'm in first class tonight. :)

Potty Talk

Yes, I am well aware that it's been quite some time since I updated the blog.  Life has been busy around the Edmiston household.  School, work, church, friends, family, Brandon's surgery in January, life, and potty training for B.

Speaking of potty training, can I just say that it's been a nightmare with B!!!  First, I really do feel that his hernia surgery delayed him a little.  Then it didn't help that my mom tried to train him in a weekend and the boy refused.  Thus, the bladder infection.  Also, the fact that he takes after his Daddy and is extremely stubborn doesn't help us either. He went so far as to tell me that it was fun to go potty in his pants.  How do you respond to that?!?!

Anyhow, we decided that enough was enough and we resorted to bribery.  In the form of a red truck.  I took him truck shopping and let him climb on the Power Wheels trucks.  He fell in love with a big red truck and I told him that once he goes potty then he could drive it.  I bought the truck, put it together and talked about it constantly.  I even sent a picture of it to his daycare teacher so she could bribe him too.  It worked.  It was like a switch was flipped.  He was potty trained practically overnight.

Now that brings us to Brandon's daily conversations about going potty.  WOW!  The boy likes to talk about the bathroom.  We'll be out in public (anywhere) and he's proud to yell "I need go potty"!  LOUDLY!  I do have to admit that it's so nice to look at Jeremy and remind him that it's his turn to take a preschooler to the restroom.  It's great having a boy when Daddy is around.  The only bad thing about a boy is that B really likes to talk about going poo-poo.  The other day Jeremy was going upstairs and the kids were following him.  Brandon told him not to go poo-poo in his pants.  (This was out of the blue)  Georgia turned around and said "Brandon, Daddy is a professional.  He's 36 years old and he knows how to go poo-poo".

Out of the mouth of babes!

Halloween 2009

Mommy's Little Pirate

Go Go Dancer Georgia!

Yes, I know, it's been quite some time since I updated the blog. Life's been a little crazy and busy this year. Anyhow, enjoy the pics from Halloween.

The kids had a great time this year. It was the first year that Georgia has gone Trick or Treating in the neighborhood. We've always attended the Fall Fest at our church, but this year we did a Trunk or Treat at church. Since I was still pretty weak (recovering from flu-like symptoms) the gameplan was for me to stay home with Mister B while Georgia and Jeremy walked went Trick or Treating with Daisy. Brandon wouldn't have any of that!! He ran down the sidewalk and I had to chase him. I was winded just two houses down. Needless to say, Brandon joined them and he had a fa-boo-lous time asking for candy. Jeremy said he was actually polite and said "TANK YOU" to all our neighbors!

Now it's time for candy detox!

Brandon NEEDS a horse...and maybe a longhorn, too!

Yesterday I took the kids to the FW Zoo for a few hours. Georgia had a fantastic time learning about the wild animals, but Brandon was only interested in the horses and longhorns. Let's see...he loved the horses at Texas Wild! He couldn't get enough of the carousel (we rode it twice). And he threw down his brand new lolli-pop when he saw the coin guzzling ride-on horse! The horse ate a dollar's worth of my quarters. He also screamed "MOO" at the longhorn head on the restuarant's wall during our snack break.

All this from a boy who is terrified of cowboy boots. What ever will we do during the Santa Rosa Roundup????

Georgia's 7th Birthday Party

We celebrated Georgia's 7th birthday last weekend. The kiddos came over for pizza and cake and once the boys left the fun really started! Georgia had a slumber party for 5 girls. They had a great time watching movies and doing crafts, but boy was I tired Saturday.

Next year I think we'll just go to the FW Zoo again!

Dressed For The Weather

I dreaded spring-time weather growing up. I lived in tornado alley and yes, I thought my mom overreacted about the storms. If the weather guy forecasted possible tornados, my mom would make us go to bed in our clothes. We'd have a jacket and our shoes by the end of the bed. I remember going down to the cellar before the sirens would even go off. And I also remember spending the night in that cellar. Thank goodness Dad had the it carpeted and outfitted with electricity. It was actually our playroon.

Now that I am a mom and married to a man who is terrified by storms, I find myself preparing my family for possible storms. Take tonight for instance. Jeremy was on a flight from Charlotte and I was alone with the kids. We enjoyed a great evening and I even got Brandon to bed WITHOUT his pacifier. I double checked the weather and sure enough, Keller was getting pelted with hail. I decided to go ahead and get the dogs inside. Then I started getting everything in place (just in case the storm got nasty). I had to wake up Georgia to move her downstairs, but I told her she'd be waiting for Jeremy. She didn't even realize it was storming. Bradon woke up and I was forced to find a pacifier. Dang those storms!

Well, GP hardly got any bad weather. We only had hard rain, but I was prepared! Jeans on, tennis shoeson, socks and shoes on PJ dressed kids, jackets for kids, packed diaper bag, charged cell phone, laptop to watch wfaa.com, drinks and snacks. I guess the memories of April 10, 1979 still make me appreciate the power of the storms.

MIA Capris

We have never had good luck with family or kids' portraits. Now don't get me wrong, the pictures always turn out great but we always have drama! This last Saturday was no exception to our rule as the portrait session will always be remembered by the missing capri pants.

Georgia and Brandon were both having their pictures taken this go round. Everything seemed to be falling into place, that is, until it was time for Georgia to get cleaned up. Georgia and I had picked out two really cute outfits and we had packed one and laid the other one out. This was our mistake. I guess that the pretty capri pants were too tempting for Brandon because when Georgia got out of the shower they were no where to be seen! We searched high and low for those silly pants but we couldn't find them. We ended up changing her outfit and as you can see the pictures turned out fine regardless.

Once we got to the studio we had to wait, and wait, and wait. At one point Jeremy said that he'd rather go to Doug Bryan's for pictures!! I can't wait to make that appointment! Maybe by then we'll be able to find those capri pants...we still haven't found them. No telling what Brandon did with them!
