Welcome to My World

I'm hungry.

That is a phrase many parents hate to hear at bedtime. This is one of Georgia's famous tactics to delay going to bed nearly every night. Our normal counter attack is a glass of milk.

This past Tuesday night was no different. Jeremy and I got home late after visiting with old friends in Grapevine. When we got home Brandon was already asleep but Georgia just had to stay up and wait for us. She waited until the babysitter left and then she sprung it on us. She came downstairs and told us she was hungry. Not phased at all, Jeremy proceeded to walk her to the kitchen and make her some chocolate milk. As she was standing there sipping on her milk and grinning from ear to ear, Jeremy opened the fridge and stared at my half empty shelves. He talked to himself out loud and wondered what he wanted to eat.

Just like a comic on stage, Georgia piped in..."Welcome to my world!"

What a shocker for Jeremy and myself. We never thought we'd hear our 1st grader talk like an adult. Much less, we never thought she'd understand what she was actually saying. She understood all too well.

As parents we have laughed so much about the funny little things Georgia says, but we also hate to hear them. It's a double edged sword for us...on one hand we love that our daughter is growing up, but on the other hand we hate it.

Welcome to my world.
